- For any non-profit organization, community support is a key element of the success we achieve
in providing quality services to our clients and their families. Government grants and
funding do not nearly meet that need.
- We cannot stress enough that the services that ARCOT provides to its clients consist literally of
life and death issues. With the newly effective medications, with medical care, transportation,
and housing and utility assistance for those who need it, living with HIV/AIDS can be a chronic
and manageable disease.
- Or more simply put, the average individual will not adhere to complicated medication schedules and
vital medical appointments, if they do not have a roof over their heads and food to eat.
- Community support can come from individual and group donations in the forms of "money-fundraising
activities" and "time-volunteer activities".

ARCOT looks to the following for this support:
Private Foundations
Churches
Individuals
College and School Service Organizations
Healthcare Providers and Institutions
Fundraising Special Events

- ARCOT's Board of Directors, though challenged with meeting the needs described above for our
clients, recognized late in 2002 that the HIV/AIDS challenges faced in third-world countries
are even more serious than our own challenges. For the past two years, with the involvement
of Austin College ACCares, we have adopted an orphanage in Zimbabwe, Africa, that provides
housing, schooling, meals and job-training for HIV/DIS orphans. AACares, in partnership
with ARCOT, sponsors fundraisers for the orphanage. Funds go directly to the orphanage with
no "middle-man".
